One of the things I love most about growing things is how your vision becomes concentrated on life at ground level. That little patch of soil that you're digging or hoeing assumes an intimate topography. And it's all too easy to down tools and start taking pictures.
Since our plot is right beside the single access road in the site, and fairly near the entrance, most people pass by us on their way to their plot. I know they're saying that it's little wonder that woman still has a weedy patch to dig over and no seeds sown yet - there she is again, taking a photo of the ground, for heaven's sake, or a weed...

Penny, I use a Canon Ixus 80IS. I took this on the macro setting.

That is indeed a fabulous photo. I get laughed at for taking photos at my plot too. And I totally agree, there is something special about getting up close and personal with the earth and the plants you grow (as you weed) - I find it very relaxing, as well as enlightening. Not sure I would ever e quick enough off the mark to get a photo like that though!

Wow, that's a fantastic photo, Linda. You should enter that in a competition. Taking photos of life at ground level is certainly paying off.
According to my daughter, dandelions are not weeds, they are very pretty flowers and well, I think I now agree :-)
Your photo is amazing - if looking down at the ground achieves this kind of photography then keep on looking!
This is an extraordinary photo, I absolutely love it. I drive my family crazy taking photos, so I'm sure people who don't know me must think I'm even crazier!

Re RC book. I really would recommend it. I have loads of bread books too, and this is the only one that I have ever used in such a successful way. If you like, I could try scanning the scone page and send it to you and you could give it a go? I understand your reticence at buying yet another book. x

Jo kindly suggested I should enter it for a competition. I did actually submit it to the weekly 'Scotland in Pictures' on the BBC news website, but I was pipped by a photo of a wee boy blowing a dandelion! They do seem to favour cute kiddies and darling doggies on those pages, so perhaps I'll take my 'Art' elsewhere!
This post made me laugh out loud. I'm sure most people also wonder why I have to take SO many pictures of everything in the gardens. The reasons, no doubt, are many.
And that scene on the flower - an amazing catch!

Thanks for the giggle! I love that photo! I am exposed for whoever drives by to see on my corner lot. I take lots of photos, too. Sometimes, cars have to dodge me. I do try to move for them, though.
I found that critters have been distracting me away from gardening. Very nicely captured.
