The word that gladdens the Scottish heart. Although I dislike the Starbuckification of every street corner in Edinburgh, I'm not above taking one of their free bags of used coffee grounds when one of my children (usually my daughter) drags me in for a hot chocolate milano for her and a chai latte for me (tho yesterday I cracked and had a hot chocolate).Result: gloriously coffee-scented compost bin.

I was quite perturbed when Starbucks outlets were being targeted during recent street-distrubences... I would have simply boycotted it 'cos of the coffee.

Well I have never heard of using a huge amount of coffee grounds for compost. I would image that unlike everything else, it will work. We put ours in, but its a volume hardly worth mentioning. Have you used it with success before?
I don't use coffee all the time, but when I do it's in these large quantities from Starbucks (Neither I nor my son drink coffee, my husband and daughter only occasionally). It seems to work fine.
Our allotment site is pretty much in central Edinburgh, but doesn't feel like it since it's surrounded by trees on 3 sides, blotting out the city.
That´s going to be a very good compost. I always use all and put it into the compost.

I also heard that used coffee is a very good compost, our mothers said so. But I don't know if it really works.
I knew about using coffee grounds and it is a really good idea. I hate to see things not recycled. My good friend has a coffee shop and she knew too, but has never had anyone ask for it.
