Since this photo was taken on Sunday it has snowed, and snowed and snowed. Goodness knows what state the brassica cage is in now, even after being tightened up and the snow knocked off.
Perhaps the snow will stop whatever mollusc has been chomping on this broccoli plant.
I'm concerned about the fox in this weather. Last night we parted the living room curtains to look out at the falling snow and saw a fox trotting down the pavement a few yards from us. I don't know if it was 'our' allotment fox, but it certainly looked very thin.

You can have "My" fox if you want. I have more than enough of them!
The snow looks really pretty.... but not the most practical weather huh. We're getting more snow tonight in Northern Ireland. I can't remember the last time the snow lay on the ground for so long. In the past its gone in a day or two. Crazy Nov/Dec snow!

It's hard to believe that there are still snails/slugs so active in that kind of weather. Your poor brassicas - they do look a fright.
It is mad weather all over the place by the sounds of it. We have had a very cool Spring with record breaking rains. It is now officially summer, but still cool. But I have been out weeding and the soil is moist, crumbly and warm. Wish I was a vegetable..here, ...not the British Isles!

The snow makes everything look so pretty, well, apart from your broccoli, blooming slugs.
An allotment and a fox....we have something in common!
My wife lived in Edinbirgh for many years and recently brought me up there. What a place!...the Whiski Bar and Old Dollar Bill, the botanics AND the castle fireworks, river walks...so much to do! I want to live there. I shall be watching you for some tips on the allotment if you don't mind?

I've been reading about all the snow that's been dumped on you. As pretty as it can be, it's sometimes dangerous and destructive.
I often wonder how wildlife survives our cold temps and deep snow during the winter months. Hopefully, your fox will be okay. Our son and family had a fox in their country neighborhood during the summer and it killed the neighbor's little, tiny dog. Maybe I told you that already on a previous fox post.
