I guess the shoe-chewing desire is prevalent throughout the canid species. Next time the dog chews your slippers, he can blame it on instinct. Hah!
So the foxes like to eat the onions, too, or do you think another pest is to blame?
Adrienne, I think it's likely to be the fox. No sign of badgers at the site, and our other main pests are pigeons. This is probably another of the dog instincts. I know when our Springer spaniel was in the huff about something (usually if my Dad didn't take him shooting) he dig a nice hole in the garden to vent his frustration. Maybe the fox discovered that the left brown shoe didn't taste too good!
