Found

And indeed it is.

After taking these shots I put my camera in my pocket and forgot to take it out again as we worked at the plot this afternoon. The grass just keeps growing, so there was a major strimming session. I weeded the strawberry bed, which was being invaded by couch grass. All around, leaves were falling from the ash trees that border the site. When we're next back - which will be in a couple of weeks now - I'll rake them up and bag them for leaf-mould.

We agreed that we needed to use the winter to get the borders of the plot under control, and to reclaim more ground from grass. That depends on having a relatively snow and frost-free winter. The Winter Olympics might be crossing fingers for snow, but we're not.

That rascal! How was it stolen in the first place - did the fox take it right off Bill's foot?!?

I guess the fox wasn't that hungry, or maybe the odor was too much for it to taste good. What a story. We have lots of coyotes here, one can hear the packs calling at night. We have less foxes but they are not in town.

Dave, I think Bill had changed into wellington boots to dig his plot and had left the shoes outside his hut. He then saw the fox making off with them...

Hi Linda

We have a fox at our summerhouse too.
We always takes all things inside the house because the fox takes it.
He diggs in the flowerbeds too.
Thanks for visiting me.
Have a great day
Gunilla

Good Morning Linda, thank you for the shoe story it's so funny. It is quite common that foxes takes shoes I wonder what they like... if it is the leather or the humans

Hi Linda - thank you so much for the lovely comments you left on my blogs. I love both your blogs they are beautiful and entertaining. It is so good to find someone gardening in the same area as me.
We have a fair bit of plot to reclaim from nettles and grass too, so a nice mild spell will suit us fine

This is pretty funny. Doges chew up shoes, why not a fox.

That fox sure has fun on the allotment! What a character!

I love all your photos, by the way.

Too funny about the fox and the shoe! We have a fox we see down by the lake but I think he has better interests than shoes.
