My first foray into Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, with surprises coming up daily in the pot outside my front door. The winter pansies have been stalwart all through the dark days of the Scottish winter, and they're now blooming in earnest. The crocuses in this pot are pretty much over - just a few leaves with characteristic white centre striping left over. The broad leaves of tulips are coming to the fore now (and I can't remember what variety I planted back in November, so this will be the real surprise factor). The sky-blue flowers in the background are Glory of the Snow (Chionodoxa).
Below, another cheerful pot of crocuses and daffodils. It was worth that afternoon potting up bulbs with fingers that were numb with cold by the time I'd finished.
Other March blooms are at Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, at May Dreams Gardens.

Those flowers are indeed a treat! I should remember to do the bulbs in a pot since I don't have a bed ready for them in the garden. We usually have a number of bloomers by now, but not this year!

The shade of crocus and the daffs were an inspired choice, they look stunning together.
How absolutely lovely! Wish I were there. I'm sending this to mom-in-law, who was born in Scotland. What a beautiful place.
What a glorious colour combination of the crocus and daffodils in the same pot - it looks very regal.
I like the angle of the first photograph too - with the tulip foliage looking very interesting.

What beautiful colors you've grown. I think I'll stick around and read more of your blog.
I like the picture of the purple pansies with the Chionodoxa. Beautiful combination of purple and blue!
I haven't thought of these container combos, very pretty.
These flowers are so so so so beautiful :)

I always thought spring would be later in Scotland than in Belgium, but looking at what's blooming in your garden, I'm not so sure anymore...
What lovely flowers. I like the Yellow and blue flowers best.
It reminds me of our Swedish flag. Today the snow has melted a lot but we have still a lot of snow.
Have a nice evening
Gunilla
Thanks for the comments. I'm trying to snatch some time to get round at least some of the other Garden Bloom bloggers.
Gunilla, I actually call this my Swedish pot. We have a little wooden Swedish flag on our living room window sill, and I thought I would repeat the colours outside!
Hi there Linda and a warm welcome to GBBD! These postings are a great way to compare month by month and year by year too. They are also a fantastic way to see plants you may not be familiar with and blogs and bloggers too :-D
What beautiful colours in your pot. Enjoy the surprise your tulips will bring! Look forward to seeing you next month perhaps ;-)
Hi Linda,
This is a great time to join GBBD. I love your blooms, and that makes me wonder why my blue flowers, chindoxia? aren't coming up.
Glad to see you at GBBD. Your blooms are beautiful.
Spring in color: i like
Oh what wonderful spring flowers here are. That is so waited for but we still have winter. In the meantime I can soak up the atmosphere in this blog. They are so uplifting. I saw the first crocus leaves sticking up from the ground in a place were the snow had melted away today. I nearly shouted hurrah. Just in time for the spring equinox too.
Oh my goodness gracious they are absolutely gorgeous! We are so behind time this year due to the unusal winter. Some years we have our vegtable garden in by the end of March. No chance this year. Enjoy your lovely flowers.
Now I long for spring! It snows over here and all is so grey and cloudy!
Tack för ditt besök! =)
Nice blog interresting, you lived in a lovely country, i knowed well scotland.
