Did a google search on celeriac and as I thought, it's in the celery family. Grown for the bulbous hypocotyl rather than the stem and leaves. The hollow stalk of the upper plant is sometimes cut into drinking straw lengths, rinsed and used in tomato-based drinks, as in the Bloody Mary Cocktail. I'm all for that! Again, I've learned something from reading a gardening blog.
